How to fix a mouse from a computer?

Working at a personal computer is extremely inconvenient if there is no computer mouse. It even looks ridiculous and funny. Literally everyone used this device. Any mouse can do without maintenance for a very long time, but it can also refuse to do its job over time. Users quickly get used to the form and functionality of the device, so they are not always looking for a replacement in the event of a breakdown, and going to the service center can be extremely expensive. How to fix the mouse from the computer yourself, is this even possible? There is no particular difficulty in repairing if you have at least some experience working with equipment.

Parsing a computer mouse

In order to disassemble a computer mouse, you must follow this instruction:

  1. Loosen the fixing screws. If they are not visible on the surface, then they are most likely hidden by a label or substrates (glides). Just lightly press the label over the entire surface. In those places where it bends, and there are screws.
  2. Typically, the circuit board of the device is not fixed with screws and is held on rods made of plastic. The board must be removed, getting rid of the fixing components.

Important! Remember the location of the components, so that without any difficulties return everything to its place. Also, do not touch the optics of the device, otherwise - there is a risk of contamination with skin fat.

What to do if the wire is frayed?

If you notice that your cursor “jumps” or moves independently, then, most likely, the integrity of the wire is violated in the place where it leaves the case. Checking this is very easy: you just need to pull the wire to the housing and evaluate the performance. If it is restored for a while, then the problem is precisely in the wiring. It happens that when inspecting the wire, external physical damage is detected, then the cause of the breakdown is exactly obvious.

If you know how to use a soldering iron, then it will not be difficult to restore working capacity. You just need to remove the defective area and solder the ends of the remaining part of the conductors to the printed circuit board.

Repairing wires using soldering

Usually the wires are divided into two types:

  • From ordinary copper wire.
  • From a wire like tinsel.

Important! The second type is more elastic, therefore, has a longer service life.

The wire enters the mouse body and is connected to the printed circuit board by two types of connections:

  • Detachable.
  • Pressing into the block.

How to carry out repair work:

  1. For any of the methods you need to take a picture or sketch the location of wires and contacts.
  2. Then you need to remove the connector from the board. The color scheme has long been chosen by the manufacturer, which is the only difficulty in the repair.
  3. Now you need to remove the solder from the holes to solder the new wires. In this case, a toothpick or match will help, which must first be sharpened. Just heat the solder in the hole, insert a toothpick in there, removing the soldering iron.
  4. After the solder has frozen, take out a toothpick and observe a hole free for installation.
  5. To prepare the wires, you need to get rid of the damaged piece of wire.
  6. Now you need to remove the insulation and tin the ends of the wires with solder. Tinning is easy with some kind of stand: wires are simply laid on it and rotate in one direction. These manipulations will give the ends of the wires a round shape.
  7. It remains to thread the ends to the board and solder them according to the scheme, which was photographed or sketched in advance.

Important! If your device uses wires such as tinsel, then instead of the usual solder, you should take an aspirin tablet.

Some computer mice have a circuit board with very small radius holes. In this case, getting rid of the solder will be very difficult. It’s best to just solder all the conductors to the pads.

Repair without using a soldering iron

Soldering is the most reliable way to connect, but not everyone skillfully wields a soldering iron, and it may not always be at hand. Success can be achieved by the usual twisting of wires, but such a connection will not be durable:

  1. First, you need to disassemble the device itself and cut out that portion of the wire that is frayed.
  2. Now, with the help of a knife, without much effort, we cut the outer insulation by about 5 centimeters.
  3. We remove the wires, but do not throw out the shell - it can still come in handy.
  4. Next, we adjust the length of the wires so that the joints (twists) are offset relative to each other by about eight millimeters.
  5. We clean the ends of the wires from insulating material by 6-7 millimeters.
  6. Then we simply twist the ends of the same color with each other and bend them along the conductors.
  7. We fill the ends into one of the prepared shells.
  8. The connection that you received must be framed by the second part of the insulation material.
  9. It remains only to connect the connector to the chip and neatly distribute the wires over the housing.

Important! When working, pay attention to the fact that the “convolutions” do not touch each other.

Repair the wheel

After a long service life, the wheel of the device may work in fits and starts or not spin at all. The most common cause of this phenomenon is contamination in the form of dust and lint clogged between the receiving modules of the device. Dirt accumulates and clogs gaps, sticking to the axis of rotation of the wheel itself, and this is due to the coating of the wheel with special grease to achieve better sliding.

To repair a mouse from a computer:

  • It is necessary to disassemble the case in the same ways that were described above and remove all debris with tweezers or thin objects.
  • Also, a technical vacuum cleaner, a can of compressed air and a soft brush will do its job well.

After removal, we check the device for operability.

How to fix a wireless mouse? Actions are no different from those that were discussed above. Everything will be even much simpler, because there will be no fuss with wires.
