After refilling the cartridge, the printer does not print - what should I do?

After refilling the cartridge, the printer does not print - the one who ran the refueling at least once encountered this problem. Meanwhile, new cartridges cost almost as much as a new printer, so nobody would like to change them often. Why this happens and what to do in each situation, based on the cause of the problem - we will consider in this article.

The main causes of inkjet printer malfunctions

Before looking for problems with the cartridge, the first thing to do is check the USB cable. If there is no spare cord, you should try moving all the connectors; if the problem persists, you should look for other reasons.

Dry ink

Models of inkjet printers have a big drawback: the ink located in the nozzles of the print head dries quickly enough. To avoid such a problem, you need to either constantly print something, or turn on the printer once a week to blow nozzles.

Wrong ink selection

Those who think that any ink is suitable for a printing device is very mistaken. In reality - even for one brand of printer, but for different models, refueling may vary. Printing may not occur due to refilling with ink incompatible with it, and as a result, you will have to completely rinse the print head.

Important! When choosing ink for a printer, be sure to read the instructions that indicate the properties and models for which it can be used. It is equally important to observe the expiration date.

Air entering during refueling

If there is ink in the cartridge, the air will not do any harm. The liquid will simply leak out, as there will not be the necessary vacuum in the tank.

But if there is no liquid left and the air passes to the nozzles of the print head, the ink in the capillaries can dry out. If the head was incorrectly parked after refueling, it may also dry out.

Important! Make sure that the carriage is always in the parking lot after printing. Thanks to this, the nozzles will not dry out.

Incorrect cartridge installation

In some cases, the cartridge is not visible to the device. The fact is that a complete coincidence of the electrical contacts on it and the carriage is necessary. When contact is broken due to dust or dried paint, the device does not work.

Important! Sometimes the reason that the printer does not print after refilling the cartridge may be due to elementary absent-mindedness. It is imperative that you remove the protective film from the contacts of the new ink tank.

Other common problems

Some devices, most often MFPs, do not start working until you close the lid, on which stands a special sensor. After installing the CISS, the lid cannot be closed tightly due to the loop, so a sensor lock will be required. To do this, you can use polystyrene.

For inkjet printers use two types of cartridges:

  • Disposable;
  • Refillable.

In the first case, the models are equipped with a special chip, due to which the printing is blocked after the ink in the tank runs out. In this case, even filling the tank with paint will not help - the signal will be sent that it is empty.

Printing is also not performed after the diaper counter signals that it is full. Pampers is a special place in the printer that is filled with foam. Excess ink from the print head gets into it.

Problems with Laser Printers

Most often, such models stop printing if they need to be refueled. To refuel, perform the following operations:

  1. Dismantle the cartridge.
  2. Remove the remaining toner from the case and parts.
  3. Using special polishing materials, they process the drum, cleaning blade and other details.
  4. Fall asleep new toner.
  5. Install a transport seal.
  6. Assemble the cartridge.
  7. Perform testing.

Important! If it is necessary to restore the cartridge, all the same operations are performed, all the details except the case are changed. This is done as necessary. Recovery is usually performed after three to four refueling.

Other printer problems

Very often, the printer does not print due to a hung print queue. This situation is typical for network devices that are used by several users.

A lot of problems cause drivers. They occur after:

  • The operating system has been replaced;
  • New equipment installed;
  • Viruses launched;
  • A software failure has occurred.

In this case, you need to go to the “Device Manager” and open the tab with printers. If there is a yellow exclamation mark next to the printer name, you must reinstall the drivers. Old ones need to be removed, and new ones should be downloaded from the official site.

An equally common problem is the carelessness of users. Most often, several printers are installed on the computer, and in a hurry some users may not notice that they sent a document to print to the wrong device.

As you can see, there are a lot of reasons for a non-working printer. It is important to correctly identify the problem and fix it in time. To do everything right, use a video with a good example of solving a problem with a non-printing printer after refilling the cartridge.
