Ironing Basics

Outerwear is most often made from synthetics. However, this is not always bad: such materials are quite durable, wear-resistant, have the ability to repel dirt, and do not let cold air in. These additions are the main reason why synthetics are forbidden or allowed to be ironed, but very carefully.

Be sure to consider the information on the product label. If you pay attention to the images on it, you will notice the following warnings and recommendations for ironing a Bologna jacket:

  • The icon, which shows the iron without any signs inside, means that ironing is allowed.
  • A single point iron indicates permission to iron the garment, but with a slightly heated iron.
  • If the depicted iron is crossed out, ironing is strictly prohibited.
  • The icon of the iron, crossed out below, indicates the prohibition of steaming.

Important! Keep in mind that the topcoats of each jacket are different, despite the material, which is similar at first glance. Do not wash and iron them under the same conditions without studying the legend.

Ironing Bologna Jackets

Bologna jackets themselves are very practical in their use. Getting wet in a jacket made of such material is almost impossible. In order not to think further on the question of how to stroke a Bologna jacket at home, after washing it is immediately shaken and dried in a straightened state.

If drying was not carried out correctly and you asked such a question, it is better to use a steamer instead of an iron. The best option would be a vertical steamer: a powerful steam stream will smooth out even the smallest folds on the material without causing any harm to it.

Important! Such a device differs from irons with a steam supply function in that its sole does not come into contact with the material being processed. For this reason, the fabric does not melt and does not burn, maintaining its original appearance.

But what if there is no vertical steamer at hand, but you still need to smooth out a Bologna jacket at home? In this case, you can walk around the jacket and the iron, but only if there is a gauze cloth between the device and the material. A detailed algorithm will be discussed below:

  1. Lay out the garment on a flat horizontal surface.
  2. Roughly align it with your hands.
  3. Arm yourself with an iron and turn on its minimum power.
  4. Lay out a thin cloth or gauze on the jacket.
  5. Carry out standard ironing of the product.
  6. When the outer side of the thing is smoothed out, go to the inside - it can be ironed without lining. Ironing the inside is needed to prevent the appearance of new creases on the garment.

Important! Before ironing the outside, look at how the thing behaves, starting to process first the inconspicuous outer part of the clothes. During such an experiment, you can find out how a thing will behave when using this or that temperature.

Folk ironing

If you don’t have a suitable iron, you can bring in hot water. In order to smooth out such a thing, without resorting to using an iron, the following algorithm should be performed:

  1. Hang a down jacket on a hanger above a hot water faucet.
  2. Turn on as hot a stream of water as possible.
  3. Close all doors in the room and prevent drafts. Hot steam helps speed things up.
  4. When all the folds are even, the jacket is hung out in the room and allowed to dry naturally.

If the jacket cannot be hung above the faucet, use a regular saucepan and stove when ironing the jacket on a padding polyester. To do this, observe the following steps:

  1. Fill the pan with hot water as much as possible and put on the stove.
  2. Turn on the burner for maximum gas.
  3. Hang the jacket over the stove and wait for it to smooth itself.

Important! Carrying out this procedure, you need to be extremely careful. As mentioned earlier, down jackets are made of synthetic materials, which means they are highly flammable.
