Such drying will add work to you, because ironing a shirt that is simply dried on a rope is much more difficult. By the way, and the deformation of a thing after such treatment will not be long in coming.

To avoid this, after washing, hang the shirt on your shoulders and dry like that.You will understand how much the ironing of shirts has now changed for the better - it will take less effort.

Cotton and linen:

  • If the composition of the fabric shirts 80% or more - linen and cotton, then iron such a thing should be wet.
  • If you wash clothes by hand, then the shirt must first be wrung out, wrapped in a clean towel.
  • If the shirt is already dry, then use a towel again - sprinkle the item with water and wrap it in a clean towel or other well-absorbing cloth to evenly distribute moisture.

Silk

Smoothing silk shirts will produce results if the fabric is dry. Do not iron directly, use a clean piece of thin cotton fabric - iron through it.

Important! In no case do not iron the silk through cheesecloth, otherwise the iron, even the cleanest one, will leave traces on the fabric. A shirt made of rayon is generally contraindicated in spraying with water - guaranteed to remain stains.

Dark shirts and patterned shirts

If ordinary shirts need to be ironed on the front side, then dark ones with embroidery, patterns or ornaments should only be ironed from the inside out. Otherwise, glittering traces will remain on dark textiles, and on shirts with patterns or embroidery, the latter will fade and deform.

If you still can’t iron from the wrong side, go through the thing completely, lightly touching it and with the steamer turned on.

Important! Shiny fabric is ironed only from the inside.

Iron the shirt correctly - instructions

Before proceeding directly to ironing, you first need to determine the sequence of how to iron a men's long-sleeved shirt. This is a very important nuance. So, the ironing order:

  • collar;
  • cuffs;
  • sleeves;
  • strips;
  • shelf;
  • back.

As you already understood, we simply go from small parts to large ones.

Important! Large parts of the shirt are ironed along the shared thread. So that you don’t puzzle what it is, let’s explain: a shared thread is that thread that stretches less. Pull your shirt with your hands, as you usually stretch the stretch fabric in opposite directions - first up and down, then right and left. The direction where there is less “pull” is the shared thread.

Collar:

  1. Iron from the inside out from the corners to the middle.
  2. In the same way - from the front side.
  3. Continue ironing until the collar is completely dry.

Important! Do not iron on a bend and do not artificially create a bend-stand, it looks very unprofessional.

Cuffs:

  1. Iron from the inside out, fully deploying the cuff.
  2. Iron the front part in the same way.
  3. Fold the cuff as you need.
  4. Smooth so that the button and buttonhole are on top of each other.

Important! Collar and cuffs are the most difficult and often soiled places, especially on light shirts. To handle them with ease, we’ve prepared several effective ways to help you, how to bleach a collar and cuffs in a white shirt.

Sleeves

How to iron the sleeves of the shirt so that there are no tasteless folds on the sides:

  1. Iron the sleeve by folding it with a seam in the center - on both sides (this is smoothing the seam).
  2. Fold the sleeve with a seam on the side, again iron on both sides, smoothing the bends.

Important! Do not create a new bend when ironed a second time with a seam on the side. If your board has a tool for ironing sleeves - great! Just pull the sleeve over it and pass the iron in a circle.

Strips and shelves:

  1. Fold the shirt and lay it on the board with the front of you.
  2. Iron the right shelf along the shared thread and the button strip with buttons on it, tacking the iron between the buttons.
  3. Iron the left shelf and the bar with the loops in a similar way.

Back:

  1. Unfold the product so that the entire back or most of it is on the surface of the table.
  2. Start stroking from right to left, moving in this order: right side - top near the armhole - yoke - armhole at the left sleeve - left side - bottom of the back - center.
