How to starch wipes? To quickly and easily deal with the question of how to properly starch a napkin, you will need water, potato or corn starch. Cooking method:

  1. Dilute a tablespoon (15 g) of starch in a small amount of cold water until a uniform milk is obtained.
  2. Pour the resulting solution into boiling water in a small trickle, while stirring thoroughly. It should be a sticky mass.
  3. If lumps appear, then strain the paste through cheesecloth.
  4. Cool the solution to a comfortable temperature (to withstand the hand).
  5. Immerse the napkins in the sticky mass for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Take out the napkins and squeeze slightly. It is impossible to twist.
  7. Hang the product on a clothesline to dry. You need to remove the wipes while still wet, and then iron them.

Important! Starch the product immediately before use, as the slightest break on the fabric will ruin its appearance.

Advice:

  1. If you want to slightly starch a napkin, then use 1 tsp. starch.
  2. If you want to starch the product “rigidly” so that it holds the correct shape as long as possible, then use the ratio of 2 tbsp in the recipe. l starch per 1 liter of water.
  3. You can add a little salt (a pinch) to the solution so that the starched napkin has a glossy appearance.
  4. For drying, it is better to lay the napkin on a flat surface (preferably on a towel), spread out all the patterns and give the shape you want. If you do not do this in time, then you will not be able to change the type of accessory in the future.
  5. To iron the napkin, use the average mode of heating the iron. Iron through a cloth with quick movements. It is better to fix the crocheted napkin with pins, so that during ironing it does not stretch or wrap.

How to starch a knitted thing?

A hand-made thing is a real work of art, so I want the creation to remain in its original form longer and the question arises, how to starch a knitted thing? To give a three-dimensional shape to a vase, box, etc., starch is not suitable. It does not give sufficient rigidity. In addition, after a certain time, it turns yellow. Therefore, for products from white and light yarn, it is better to use sugar, and for threads of a different shade, gelatin is suitable. How to apply them correctly - see below.

Method 1

You will need 1 tbsp of water 15 tbsp. l Sahara. Starching a knitted thing with this technology is not difficult if you act like this:

  1. Pour the required amount of water into the pan.
  2. Add sugar and mix thoroughly.
  3. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat and let the solution cool to a temperature at which hands will not be burned.
  4. Lower the knitted item so that the water completely covers it.
  5. Leave the product for 5-10 minutes under water, then remove and gently squeeze.
  6. Lay the item on a flat surface on a prepared dry towel.

Important! Do not forget that starched things do not like water. That is, after washing, you again have to carry out the starching procedure.

Method 2

Use stiff gelatin or PVA glue to add volume to knit stiffeners. Gelatin forms a transparent film on the product, while leaving no residue. When processed with gelatin, the thing will have a harder look than with starches.

You will need 1 tsp. gelatin and 1 tbsp. water.

Cooking method:

  1. Pour 1 tsp. gelatin with water.
  2. Let it swell for 1 hour.
  3. Heat the mixture without boiling.
  4. Immerse the knit in hot gelatin.
  5. Take out a product and pull on a form.

Important! Instead of gelatin, you can use PVA glue diluting it in a 1: 1 ratio and simply soaking a wet object. After starching knitted things with your own hands, dry them on voluminous objects of a suitable shape: glasses, bowls, dishes. If you will use a cardboard box, lay it with polyethylene so that the product does not stick when it dries.
