Wood

Despite the fact that wood is an environmentally friendly material and many consider it optimal for making hair accessories, cleaning a wooden scallop presents some difficulties. You can not stand a wooden product in water for a long time, as the material begins to delaminate. But this does not mean that the scallop should be thrown away.

The tree is well cleaned with a swab dipped in vodka or alcohol. Ethyl alcohol dissolves fat, and a cotton swab collects dust and dirt. If the comb is not cleaned well enough, you should repeat the manipulation.

Plastic accessories are the easiest to maintain. How to brush a comb at home? With this material, everything is much simpler:

  1. First, you need to remove all the remnants of the hairs that stuck to the plastic using a toothpick, thin needle or match.
  2. After that, pour warm water into a small container, dissolving a little shampoo in it - 30-50 ml is enough.
  3. You can add 30-50 ml of ammonia to the solution - this is about one and a half tablespoons.
  4. Dip the comb in the solution for 20 minutes. This time is enough for the product to be completely cleaned of a layer of fat, foam and varnish residues to fix the hair.
  5. At the end of cleaning, rinse the comb thoroughly in running water.
  6. If dirt remains on the surface of the comb, take an old toothbrush, apply a pinch of baking soda on it and rub the comb.

Important! If the comb was used to comb nits and lice, it must not only be cleaned, but also disinfected by soaking in 10% bleach for half an hour. After soaking in a disinfecting solution, the accessory must be thoroughly rinsed under a water stream. To treat lice, you can use a special antiparasitic shampoo.

Soap solution can also be used to clean silicone products.

How often do I need to change the comb?

Now you know how to clean your comb from dirt. But do not forget that, despite the relative ease of cleaning, combs cannot be used forever. Replace them preferably after a year of use. This is due to the following reasons:

  • Even with regular brushing, bacteria remain on the surface of the scallop.
  • Regular combing is a necessary procedure for hair. Well-worn accessories do poorly with their functions, bent tines badly stimulate blood supply to the hair follicles.
  • Unprofessional ridges, as a rule, do not differ in good quality. Microcracks form on their surface that injure the hair.
  • Over time, the protective coating is wiped, and the comb begins to become very electrified.
