How to beautifully sew a loop using braid or ribbon?

For work you will need:

  • A braid or ribbon up to 0.5 cm wide. You can buy a beautiful satin ribbon or braid in the color of a towel in a fabric store.
  • Needle with thread or sewing machine.

Proceed as follows:

  1. Cut a piece 4–5 cm long from the braid, depending on the desired loop depth.
  2. Fold the braid in half.
  3. Sew from the wrong side to the corner or to the middle of the edge of the towel.

Important! If you are using a sewing machine, the buttonhole process will take only a few minutes. Lay the towel with the wrong side up. Lay the loop from the inside, the ends to the edge of the product, backing 1-1.5 cm. Fix the ends of the loop with one seam. Then turn the loop over to the edge of the towel and cover it with the stitched area. Sew a line around the edge of the buttonhole a couple more times to secure the braid. Sew a stitch along the loop from both sides to the edge of the towel (1-1.5 cm). Now your towel will hang beautifully and firmly on the hook.

How to make a loop on a towel from threads?

This is the easiest way to make a loop on a towel. For work you need only a needle and a thread.

Important! The thread should be strong, preferably reinforced or No. 10, No. 20, in extreme cases, No. 40. In the process, you will need to make a small pigtail to fit the loop and sew it to the edge of the towel.

The whole process is as follows:

  1. Insert the thread into the needle (in 2 threads). The length of the thread should be sufficient (approximately 1 m).
  2. Tie a knot on the thread and make a few stitches (2-3) where you want to make a loop.
  3. Stitch the fabric with a needle and, starting to pull the thread onto the next stitch, leave a larger loop for further work.
  4. Insert the fingers of your left hand into the loop.
  5. With one finger of your left hand, grab the thread by pulling it through the loop with an interference fit.At the same time, hold the thread with a needle and a towel with your right hand.
  6. The thread is pulled out, tie a knot tighter.
  7. Continue pulling the thread with your left hand and knotting until a pigtail of sufficient length appears.
  8. When pulling the thread for the last time, pull it together with the needle and tie the finishing knot on the pigtail so that it does not untie in the future.
  9. Pierce the towel with a needle and fasten the pigtail with a few stitches.
  10. Cut the thread and hang the towel by the eyelet on the hook.

Important! Select the thread for the loop, depending on the size and material of the towel. If the threads are not for machine stitching, then you can fold them four times. The main thing is that the pigtail loop should be strong enough.

Buttonhole made of thread for knitting

If you want to make a loop of thread on a towel in the form of a knitted string, then prepare:

  • Knitting threads under the base.
  • Threads in the color of a towel for framing.
  • A needle and thread to secure the cord.

Proceed as follows:

  • Cut the threads into pieces of the required length.
  • Fold the warp threads into a bundle, taking 2 or 4, depending on the thickness. The lace must be reliable.
  • Fold the thread in half, tie the bundle in the middle.
  • Separate the upper thread from the bottom, begin to work first with one end, and then with the other.
  • With one end of the upper thread, make a loop under the base, thread the end through the top.
  • Tighten the loop.
  • Next, make a loop over the main threads, that is, thread the end through the top of the base and tighten the knot through the bottom.
  • Repeat these two steps of tightening the knot (first through the bottom of the base, and then through the top) until the length of the pigtail satisfies you. The length should be equal to half the entire loop.

Important! In the process of weaving, adjust and tighten the knots if you want the main threads not to be visible.

  • For symmetry, loop the loops at the other end of the thread, repeating the same algorithm: first the loop under the main bundle, and then above the base. There should be 10-12 repetitions on each side.
  • Give the loop the desired shape.
  • Sew the part to the edge of the towel with a thread and a needle.

What to hang a towel on?

Here are the most popular and practical places for a rushnyk in the kitchen:

  • Apron washing.
  • Horizontal handle plate.
  • The inside of the cabinet door.
  • The refrigerator door is on the outside.
  • Special retractable kitchen unit modules.

To lock it in a hanging position, use:

  • Hooks on the screws. They are suitable for walls, pasted over with wallpaper, or a cabinet door, which is not a pity to spoil. Self-tapping screws securely fix the hook, which, in turn, can withstand even thick and heavy towels.
  • Vacuum suction hooks. Such devices can be used on tiles and other smooth surfaces, including on the facades of cabinets and glass panels.
  • Self-adhesive hooks. The adhesive side of the hook is securely fixed on both smooth and rough surfaces. Such devices are also removed easily, without leaving a sticky residue.
  • Magnetic hooks. A fresh and innovative idea for storing products. Hooks with magnets are mounted on the side walls of the refrigerator or other metal surfaces.
  • Reiling. A very convenient thing that allows you to hang not one, but several products. On a rail, a towel can hang flattened, which means it will dry faster.A towel rail on a railing looks much more aesthetically pleasing than on a hook, the only minus is that it occupies a place on the working surface. If you do not want to make many holes in the tile for rushnyks, then you can only drill two holes and fix the railing more authentically to hang on it organizers for dishes, rushnyks and dispensers for detergents.
