A mop helps to clean the floor quickly enough, without putting much effort into it. In the article, we will talk about how to make a mop with your own hands, so that it is simple and at the same time effective in use.

Wooden mop for mopping

The simplest device for mopping is a regular wooden stick with a crossbeam. Making a mop with your own hands from a tree is quite simple:

Option 1

To bring this idea to life, you can act in this way:

1. If you have metal skills, just three simple parts for the tip of the product are enough:
   • Disc with slots.
   • Clip
   • Staple clamp.
2. Now cut the cotton rope into pieces of 40-60 cm. The bundle should be thick enough (the more rope segments, the better).
3. Put a rope bundle on the disk and press it with a metal bracket.
4. An even more solid and durable product will turn out if you replace the rope part with old cotton knitwear, cut into strips in a spiral.

Important! Such a product will last quite a long time. Caring for such a mop is quite simple: after each use, the ropes are washed in soapy water.

Option 2

There is an even simpler way to make a do-it-yourself mop. You will not need metal work, so almost anyone will cope with this task.

You will need:

• Round wooden stick.
• Screws or nails are 20 mm longer than the diameter of the stick.
• Thick cotton rope or knit stripes.
• Twine or wire.
• A pair of old children's socks.

The procedure is as follows:

• Having departed from the end of the stick 4-5 cm, drive two nails crosswise at a distance of 1.0-1.5 cm from each other. The heads of the screws or nails should protrude outward. They are necessary so that the rope bundle does not slide off the stick.

Important! To prevent the tree from cracking, slightly dull nails or screws by tapping the point with a hammer.A pointed nail delaminates the wood, causing a crack. A nail or a screw with a blunt end paints a tree, and cracking does not occur.

• Pull the sock over the nails and wrap the end of the stick with rags so that the nails cannot be felt.
• Put another sock on top and tie it tight.
• Cut the rope into pieces of 40-50 cm, spread it evenly on the floor.
• Put the prepared stick on top of the ropes so that the ligation on the toe falls in the middle of the rope pieces.
• Pull the pieces of rope around the stick with a piece of twine or wire.
• Before tightening the knot, distribute the rope pieces evenly.
• Putting the stick upright, you will see that a large brush has formed at the end. Trim the ends of the rope evenly.
• Tuck down the elastic of the first sock by putting it on the brush head.
• Tie the product with twine over the edge of the toe gum.

The mop is ready to go!
