Painting “Winter evening”

How to make a picture of wool? For beginner needlewomen, this master class will allow you to become more familiar with the technique of felting wool. To create such a picture is quick and easy enough. Therefore, anyone who possesses perseverance and patience can cope with such a simple job.

Materials for work

To create such a picture, we need:

  • Natural or synthetic wool in ribbons - blue, blue, turquoise, white, brown, dark brown, red, orange, yellow.
  • Flizelin for a footboard.
  • Tweezers.
  • Scissors.
  • Photo frame.
  • Ordinary glass.

Panel Workshop

So, we begin to work with wool:

  • We cover the substrate with non-woven fabric of the desired size.
  • We take a white woolen ribbon and begin to gently pull the necessary strands out of it. We lay them out on the entire surface of a previously prepared substrate in a chaotic manner. The edges of the woolen flooring should extend 1-2 cm beyond the non-woven lining. We put glass on top of the picture and cut off all the excess.
  • Gently pinching wool, we form material for work. We lay out the background layers, starting from dark blue and ending with light. We continue to control the quality of wool application, alternately applying glass.
  • Now it's time to do snowdrifts. To do this, lay white strands parallel to the horizon. This technique can be seen by looking at mesmerizing woolen landscapes.
  • We pull out small blue strands, twist them with your fingers, forming a trunk and tree branches.
  • We make trees of white wool. To do this, take a fluffy woolen strand, flatten it, thereby forming the crown of our future snow-covered tree. We create branches and a trunk in the same way as a tree of blue wool.
  • We lay out in parallel thick white strands for the future roof of the house, cutting off the uneven edges of the structure with scissors.
  • The house itself is made of brown and dark brown wool, laid out in random order - at your discretion.
  • We close the lower part of the house with voluminous snowdrifts made of snow-white wool.

Important! For greater realism, we recommend laying out the material horizontally or in waves.

  • We cut the windows out of white wool, and after that we add the fibers of turquoise and blue strands to the snow, touching the roof of the house.
  • At the bottom of the house we line yellow and orange, simulating the incident light from the window. Here we add a few red woolen villi. These colors should overlap the bottom of the house and go a little to the roof.
  • For pictures, lay out the sky and the moon using white, blue and blue woolen strands.
  • We place randomly turquoise fibers on the trees and on the horizon of our image.

The panel is completed! We cover it with clean glass and admire our creativity. As you can see, even the most inexperienced needlewomen can make paintings of wool with their own hands.

Important! If you do not know how to draw, do not rush to be upset. A sample for your wool pattern can be printed on a printer and transferred onto a substrate using transfer paper or carbon paper.

Woolen painting “Poppies”

Floral paintings look very romantic and gentle. In this master class, we will step by step consider all the stages of the dry method of using wool. The conversation will continue on how to make a picture of wool “Poppies”.

Materials for work

For work, we will prepare the necessary materials and tools:

  • Clay frame of the required size (consisting of fiberboard, glass and metal clips).
  • Flannel or non-woven for the substrate.
  • Scissors for cutting wool.
  • Tweezers for applying small parts.
  • Wool - light green, pink, orange, yellow, red, scarlet, burgundy, dark green and brown.

Important! You will spend approximately 2-3 hours of free time on such work.

Working process:

  • We spread the background using white, yellow, orange and pink woolen threads. You can overlay the background with other desired shades.
  • To form a poppy stem, take a small strand of wool (dark green), twist it and get a stem under the flower.
  • Now we need to lay the stems on the prepared background, bending them in certain places - at your discretion.
  • To form poppy petals, you need to take a fairly wide strand of scarlet wool. We take it in our hand and give the desired shape to us with scissors.
  • We put the cut petals to the surface and get a still solid flower without clear boundaries.
  • With the help of burgundy wool, we shade the lower part of the poppy and lay out the veins. To do this is quite simple - tear off the thin fibers of the wool and lay them in the right place.

Important! If you see that you need to add a little more of the same color, add, do not be afraid to experiment, as excess fibers can easily be removed.

  • Using exactly the same actions, we spread all the other flowers, changing the shades of the petals at will.
  • To form a poppy bud, we take scarlet and green wool. Fold in half a strand of scarlet wool (do the same with green) and put it inside the green color, leaving the red head of the poppy to peek out. Trim the excess material.
  • We create a box using the technique of laying out flower petals. Cut small pieces of green and brown wool to form the top (cap) of the poppy. We put dark woolen fibers on top of the previously made box.
  • Now we need to lay out a blooming poppy flower, where a small box with seeds will be clearly visible. We form the petals in the same way as the previous ones, cutting the distant petals first. We spread the seeds on top of the flower, burying them with the nearest flower petals. Here it is appropriate to add a dark red color to the base and along the poppy petals to give volume and contrast to our composition.
  • Very easy to make poppy leaves. To do this, tear off a small woolen green strand and lay out the carved leaves of the flower with a ladder.
  • Before you cover your masterpiece with glass, you should once again carefully consider all the work done, adjust the details, adding or removing wool, if necessary.
  • We cover the finished picture with clean glass, hold it with a clamp and trim the excess wool.

That's all the work! Your creation is ready!

Important! We recommend treating the poppy outline with dark red thread to give the petals a sharper shape. Otherwise, the edges of the flowers will look careless, which is very striking.

Helpful hints:

  • We advise you to do the work of creating a picture of wool not at one time, but for several.Let you work for several days for 1-2 hours, than do everything in one day, and be very tired of the habit of such a painstaking task. In a hurry, you may get a sloppy picture with a disproportionate pattern. Therefore, sometimes you need rest to soberly evaluate each stage of the work done.
  • For the basics, it is not necessary to take a ready-made photo frame. It can be replaced, for example, with a conventional fiberboard board or other dense material. The top of the backing will be wrapped with woolen fibers that mask the base material well.
  • You should immediately think about the size, shape of the future picture. It can be a circle, square, rectangle or a completely different shape.
  • Try to highlight the shadows, highlights, light and dark sides of the image as much as possible, since the appearance of the wool pattern depends on these points. In other words, using the play of light, try to revive the picture, which will make it more realistic.
  • If you decide to lay out a still life or landscape with wool, we recommend starting with the processing of the largest elements of the picture. For example, in a still life (with the presence of flowers), immediately proceed to lay out the petals and leaves in a uniform color. If a vase is present in the image, initially apply wool to it. In the case of a picturesque landscape - first fill out the sky, water, and so on with wool.
  • If you work with the dry technique of felting, then the work can be completed at the stage of laying out all the constituent elements of the picture. In the case of using wet technology, you need to go through another step - carefully walk through the wool with a wet soap so that it is well wet. After that, put your picture on a rubber surface, and cover with polyethylene on top and roll it into a roll. After rolling the roll 5-7 minutes back and forth, unfold it and wet it again, and then do the previous steps again.

Important! After this procedure, the wool fibers should connect well, which is what we need. You will have to rinse your creation and completely dry.

  • After each stage, it is necessary to cover the work with glass. Under the pressure of the glass, the material will settle well - so you can see all the flaws in your work that can still be fixed. But this applies only to the dry felting technique, since wet does not require such a fixation.
  • If you remove the wrong wool layer many times, then keep in mind that with such frequent correction of flaws, the picture may lose its original freshness.

Important! Beginners should opt for simple and understandable plots, and after training and gaining experience, you can take on more complex compositions. Moreover, now you can paint with wool online, where any error can be easily corrected with one click.
