How to replace furniture upholstery?

The process of restoration of the product itself consists of several stages:

Training

First of all, disassemble the piece of furniture into its component parts. To do this, it will be enough to untwist all the fasteners and set aside the components in different directions.

Remove the old upholstery

At this stage, it is necessary to carefully remove the old furniture upholstery. Most often, it is attached with furniture staples to the inner surface of the part. To detach the mount, use a flat (minus) screwdriver, acting as follows:

1. Gently pry the bracket.
2. Pull it out with pliers.
3. Carefully pull the replacement material from the surface of the product.

Important! Do not cut or tear up the old upholstery. Under the upholstery is a filler made of foam rubber or synthetic winterizer. If this layer is not damaged, then you can not change it. Be careful and make sure that no harmful insects are wound up in the filler.

Directly upholstery

If you decide to replace the foam layer, proceed in the following sequence:

1. Place the product frame with the outer side on the surface of the foam.
2. Using a knife for wallpaper, make a pattern so that the material accurately covers the entire frame and about half of the inner surface of the product.
3. Now stretch the foam and, wrapping at the ends, fasten with brackets using a construction stapler.
4. Cut upholstery material, focusing on the old upholstery as a template. Sew parts, pulling them, fasten them on the furniture from the inside. For fixing, again, we use a furniture bracket.

Final stage

Having dragged the details with a new cloth, the most difficult and responsible thing in the upholstery of upholstered furniture with our own hands remained - to assemble the product.

Important! Inspect the frame and the main frame: if they are loose or damaged, strengthen the structure with furniture screws or PVA glue.
