Classification

The design of the shelf for installing home colors depends on such factors:

  • The number and type of plants.
  • Type of room.
  • The style in which the room is decorated.
  • Taste preferences of the owner.

The number, type of plants and their location

Depending on the number of flowerpots that will be placed, one, two and multi-seat products are distinguished. Single shelf provides for the placement of one flowerpot. Such a design looks good both in the house and outside (for example, near the front door).

Important! Suitable shelves for climbing plants, with lots of flowers and leaves.

From single shelves distinguish between floor and wall options. The floor design involves the installation of a pot with a large plant.

Double products are designed for the same plants or different species that feel good in the same conditions (for example, in a shaded place).

A multi-unit device occupies the entire surface of a wall or part. It can also be floor or wall. The “carrying capacity” of the floor structure is higher. It can accommodate large plants. At the same time, wall shelves can not withstand significant weight.

Important! Less common options are corner and ceiling structures.

What to do?

Depending on the material of manufacture, the products are divided into the following categories:

  • Plastic It’s unlikely that it will be possible to make a do-it-yourself flower rack made of plastic. Ready-made plastic products are on sale. Plastic is cheap, practical, easy to clean. The variety of color variations is also impressive. It just looks like this material is too simple.
  • Wooden. Wooden shelves look beautiful, so this option is one of the most common. However, the tree does not tolerate excessive moisture, and watering and spraying are frequent caring procedures. Therefore, if you prefer this material, you will have to process the material with special substances. Otherwise, a wooden product is unlikely to last even a year.
  • Glass. Glass shelves look very aesthetically pleasing, give the impression of lightness and airiness, do not load the interior. Making glass shelves for flowers on a windowsill with your own hands from glass requires a certain skill. Unfortunately, glass cannot be called practical. To keep the design attractive, it requires constant and rather difficult maintenance.
  • Metal. Metal flower shelves are strong and durable, but quite heavy. We must not forget about the anti-corrosion coating.

Important! The items decorated with forged elements look great.

You can combine several materials. Here are the most common examples:

  • Woodwork decorated with forged details.
  • The combination of metal frame and tempered glass surfaces.

Important! Many people ask the question: is it possible to make a flower stand from plasterboard? The answer is unequivocal: it is possible, but such a construction is unlikely to be durable. Drywall and moisture are incompatible things.

How to make a shelf for flowers? Simplest option

This model is notable for its simplicity and low cost. All expenses come down only to the purchase of plywood sheet.

You will need:

  • Plywood sheet.
  • 2 pipes made of nickel or galvanized metal.
  • Finishing materials (paint or varnish).

Tools necessary for work:

  • Jigsaw.
  • Electric drill with a set of nozzles.

Operating procedure:

  • Before you get down to business, make all necessary measurements. Build a drawing or sketch to scale to fit the shelf into your existing space with maximum precision.
  • Now transfer the parts from the drawing to the plywood sheet and proceed to sawing with a jigsaw.

Important! You can make the simplest shelf of a rectangular or square shape or come up with an intricate design with cutouts in the form of waves or ellipses. It all depends on your imagination and the style of the room.

  • Mark the parts under the pipes, then, using a drill, drill holes of the right size.

Important! Do not forget to process all the wooden parts with a grinder or emery.

  • Treat plywood parts with compounds to increase moisture resistance and with an antiseptic effect (to make the surface unattractive to mold or mildew.
  • The last stage of manufacturing is coloring the finished product or varnishing.
  • Fix the finished product on the wall with screws using metal brackets.

Important! Be sure to check how firmly the product holds on the wall. This is a safety issue for all family members.

DIY flower shelf floor

This original design involves the use of a window sill from a plastic window. Plastic is easy to care for, durable, and tolerates excess moisture, which is associated with home jungle care.

So you will need:

  • Window sill plastic 3900 mm long.
  • 3 galvanized pipes.
  • 2 brackets.
  • 9 flange mounts.

Operating procedure:

  1. Cut the window sill into 3 parts. You will get 3 pieces of 1300 mm.
  2. Drill each part so that the holes for the installation of galvanized pipes are obtained. Two holes - on opposite edges, and the third - in the middle, and slightly shifted forward. All 3 parts must be drilled exactly the same.
  3. The next step is to cut the pipes into pieces of the same length.
  4. Fasten the structure with screws that tighten the flanges.
  5. To make the structure stable, it is fixed to the wall with brackets.

Important! Similarly, a do-it-yourself flower rack is made with glass beams.

Another floor option

This is a low-budget, but very original design. For a summer residence, for example, it fits perfectly. The basis of the whatnot is made of wood like a step-ladder, and on the “step” ordinary wooden boxes are fixed with screws, which serve as shelves for installing flowerpots.

DIY corner flower shelf

The corner shelf can be single or multiple. In the latter case, it is executed as a rack. As in the manufacture of a linear shelf, you will need metal pipes with galvanization, as well as a sheet of plywood or chipboard.

The manufacturing principle is simple: you need to cut radius shelves from plywood or chipboard, and then drill them under metal pipes. Plywood and metal parts are interconnected using screws and flanges. The shelf is fixed to the wall using the bracket.
