Put a pillar on the site

You built a country house, and now the problem of power supply of the building has become especially acute? Of course, a state organization will carry out all work related to the support for the line, free of charge. But it takes quite a while to wait. Private companies can solve this problem for a relatively small fee. If you hire specialists, there is no need to delve into all the nuances of the work, but there must be basic knowledge. From this article you will learn how to put a pole on a site in accordance with all the rules, what should be the distance from this pillar to the nearest objects, from which material to choose the wires and insulators themselves, what expenses are to be made.

How to put an electric pole on the site and what materials to use for this?

There are 3 types of poles for electricity:

  • Wooden. The most budget option, but the service life of such supports can not be called long. Wood is impregnated with an antiseptic, with the exception of larch pillars. Larch has a natural decay resistance.
  • Reinforced concrete. This option is the most acceptable.
  • Iron. The cost of such supports is the highest.

Electricity lines

To put a pole on the site, one must take into account such requirements for voltage lines up to 1 kV:

  • The minimum distance from unprotected wires suspended on supports to balconies or windows is 1,500 mm.
  • The minimum height for hanging wires over the non-carriageway is 3.5 m, over the carriageway - 6 m.
  • The interval between the wires with a span of up to 6 m is from 10 cm. If the span exceeds 6 m, then the minimum distance between the wires is 15 cm.
  • The minimum height of entry into the building is 2.75 m. To enter, an insulating pipe is used to prevent water from entering the building.
  • Structures for the installation of conductors must be made of non-combustible materials, the minimum fire resistance of which is 15 minutes. By the way, is there a contradiction with the installation of wooden poles? It turns out - no, because wood, impregnated with a special composition, becomes non-combustible.
  • The smallest distance from unprotected wires to any pipelines is 1 m. For insulated wires this distance is not standardized.
  • Fireproof material is used as an insulator. The best options are glass and porcelain.

Requirements for air lines (voltage up to 1000 V)

Supports cannot prevent various vehicles from entering the yard. To minimize the consequences of a possible collision, a car pillar must be protected with a jack stand.

Important! At a height of 2.5 to 3 m, a marking should be applied to the support with the serial number of the support, indicating the contact telephone number of the line owner and the size of the security zone. All metal structures must be protected against corrosion. What kind of method it will be is not specified in regulatory documents. As a rule, use painting.

The minimum cross-section of the wire depends on the material of manufacture:

  • Steel multi-wire wires - 25 mm2.
  • Steel aluminum - 10 mm2.
  • Aluminum - 16 mm2.
  • Bimetal - 10 mm2.

Important! If we are talking about steel single-wire wires, then the diameter is limited, and not the cross-sectional area - 4 mm. The branch is carried out only with an insulated wire. The length of the branch should not exceed 25 m.

Connect the wires by welding or special connection clamps. Connection of single-wire wires - twisting, and then soldering. You cannot connect them end to end.

These basic rules must be taken into account if you need to put a pole on the site. It is also desirable to nevertheless have certain skills and technical knowledge when performing such work, because their absence can turn into an extremely unfavorable outcome of operation.
