Materials for making a folding chair

To build a folding chair, you will need the following:

• Four whetstones for chair legs 470 mm long, 40 mm wide and 20 mm thick.
• Four rails for seats with a width of 40 mm, a length of 320 mm and a thickness of 20 mm.
• Two false nibs 320 mm long, 40 mm wide and 20 mm thick.
• Four bars for the seat itself are 350 mm long and 20 mm thick, while two of them should have a width of 60 mm and two more - 90 mm.
• To fasten these elements, six bolts with a length of not more than 40 mm and a diameter of 6 mm will be required. For the seat, the bars, prepare the screws with a size of 45-50 mm.

Folding Chair Manufacturing Technology

For the manufacture of such folding furniture with your own hands, any wood species can be used. Birch will give strength to the chair, but the pine can significantly facilitate the design.

Operating procedure:

• Getting started, first of all, place the main bolts on the legs of the chair, while placing them not in the middle of the legs, but closer to the top. Otherwise, the chair will turn out to be too high and will be distinguished by special stability.

Important! When assembling, do not forget that the caps of bolts and nuts must be flush with the flush.

• Now, with the help of bolts, connect the upper ends of the legs with the desired crossbars under the seat. Attach two of the crossbars from the outside to the outer legs, and two more to the inner legs.
• As a result, you will get two hinged prefabricated elements, which are first connected with the help of external wide dimensions of the bars for the seat, leaving an overhang of about 20 mm. At the ends of the crossbar, fasten the wide bars as follows: one bar to both outer rails and one to the ends of the inner rails.
• From the bottom of the legs at a distance of 100 mm, install false cutters and secure them with self-tapping screws.
• Now you have to place two middle bars. This is the most painstaking work, since it will depend on the middle bars how well your chair will unfold and fold.

Important! It is worth remembering that the middle bars are placed in the same way as the outer, wide ones: one - on the external crossbars, the other - attached to the internal.

• The junction of the inner bars will affect the height of the product. Tentatively, secure them at a distance of 20 mm from the wide bars of the seat.

Important! If necessary - it is possible to change the height of the assembled structure.To do this, insert another block with a cross section of about 20 to 20 mm between the middle bars of the seat.

DIY folding stool

Currently, the choice in furniture stores is very large, so you can buy anything you want without any problems. But this does not mean at all that do-it-yourself folding furniture has become irrelevant. For example, who prevents you from making a stool on your own, from which you can’t take your eyes off? At the same time, it is not at all necessary to have any special skills - just follow our instructions, and everything will certainly work out.

Stool Making Tools

To make a durable and beautiful folding stool, you will need the following tools:

• The milling cutter adapted for manual work.
• Electric jigsaw with a set of files.
• Screwdriver.
• Sander.
• Roulette.
• Pencil.
• Building angle (straight line).

Materials and fittings

The easiest way is to buy a furniture board (it will be great if it is made of beech), the size of which should be 1120x400x424 mm. The necessary details should be cut from such a furniture board.

For the manufacture of stools, the following fasteners will be needed:

• Butterfly loops in a range of 35 by 35 mm - 4 pcs.
• Studs 8 to 250 mm, while mutual threading is required - they will be required for the end nut.
• Nagel 8 to 50 mm.
• High quality wood glue.
• Tinting varnish.

Processing parts for stools:

1. From a beech shield, cut a circle with a diameter of 350 mm.
2. To make a pen on a stool, use a pen drill.
3. Drill a couple of holes in the future seat, making it so that the distance from the edge of the exterior is equal.
4. The distance between the centers should be approximately 12 cm.
5. To get a comfortable handle, cut everything together.

Preparation of folding stool parts:

1. Take the most ordinary end mill in the form of a semicircle and process parts on both sides with it.
2. It is not necessary to handle the parts of the legs from the inside.
3. To cut a groove in the inner frame of the legs, use a 8.5 mm straight cutter. Make holes in the entire length of the groove, then simply knock out the jumpers with a thin chisel.
4. Just round the bottom of the legs, and then install jumpers between the legs using dowels with glue.
5. Pull off the legs with a clamp and leave them until the glue is completely dry.

Assembly

The stool is assembled with strict dimensions. The hinges should be screwed onto 3.5 x 16 mm screws.

Important! All available items should be wetted several times, and then dried. Thus, the texture of the tree will “rise”.
