Technology for laying parquet board on plywood

At present, laying parquet boards is one of the most environmentally friendly ways of decorating the floor. Of course, the quality of the material plays an important role. However, choosing a sufficiently high-quality flooring, you can be absolutely sure that your coating will last you a long time without emitting harmful toxins. To date, experts have developed many different options for installing parquet boards. All of them have their own advantages and disadvantages. But it is considered that one of the best technologies is laying the parquet board on plywood. As a rule, in this case, the coating gains greater strength, and the degree of deformation of the board is significantly reduced.

Preparation for work

The life of a parquet largely depends on the correctness of the technology of its installation on the floor. Great attention must be paid to the microclimate parameters in the room, since they determine the maximum degree of deformation of the parquet. So, the main parameters include the following:

  • Humidity of the floor and walls is 5-6%.
  • Humidity in the room is approximately 35-60%.
  • The air temperature in the room is at the level of 19-23 degrees.

Important! But even the method of laying parquet on plywood has three more options with which you can work with the board.

These include installation on the rough floor, on adjustable special logs, or on a regular concrete screed. All these methods are good in their own way, therefore, in order to decide which option to choose, it is necessary to consider the nuances for each of them.

Technology for laying parquet on logs and plywood

So, the first way is laying on the logs. To begin with, if necessary, it is necessary to insulate the floor and conduct all the necessary communications, after which you can take up the lags.

Important! Before starting work, do not forget to carefully process the boards for the logs with an antiseptic and dry them thoroughly.

To work, you will need the following:

  • Dowels.
  • Self-tapping screws.
  • Special glue.
  • Wood screws.
  • Building level.
  • Plywood sheets.
  • Planer and wedges.
  • Hammer.

The sequence of laying parquet on the logs is as follows:

  • Starting from the edge of the wall, put the logs on the screws. Periodically check for evenness with a level, and after every half meter additionally fix the cover with screws and dowels.

Important! If you find irregularities, it is advisable to eliminate them using a planer and blades.

  • When the floor is completely covered with wooden logs, proceed to fasten the plywood, which will be laid in two layers. Fix the first layer with screws to the lags, and put the second on top of the first with glue. Such a two-layer version will provide strength and durability of the floor.
  • After about a couple of days, when the glue clings well, lay the parquet board on top in the usual way - first on the glue, and then on the screws. After that, use a grinding machine to sand the board, and then use a rag to convince the dust and debris.
  • The final stage of laying parquet on plywood is its varnishing. You can apply one or more varnish layers of varnish for wood - it depends on the quality of the surface.

Laying parquet with screed and plywood

The next version of the technology for laying parquet boards on plywood is with the use of a simple concrete screed. This is also a fairly reliable method, which makes it possible to avoid serious deformations of the floor covering.

To work in this way, you will need the following:

  • Concrete mortar for screed.
  • Plywood sheets.
  • Primer.
  • Special glue.
  • Set of screws.
  • Building level.
  • Hammer.

Laying a parquet board on a concrete screed is as follows:

  • First fill the floor with a cement screed. To make it work smoothly, distribute the screed at the end with a long, even metal strip. After pouring, wait about a week until everything is set and completely dry.
  • The next step is the fastening of plywood sheets. When installing plywood on the screed, keep in mind that the thickness of the plywood should be equal to ¾ the thickness of the parquet. Apply a thick layer of glue to the floor and lay the sheets.

Important! Carefully consider the gaps: they should be about 10 mm near the walls, and 5 mm between the sheets. It is the gaps that will help to ensure that plywood sheets do not rise.

  • After about 3 days, when the glue is completely dry, additionally fix the plywood with the help of self-tapping screws, which are also slightly knocked out with a hammer. When this is done, after waiting another three days, lay the parquet on the plywood as described above.

Subflooring and plywood

The third way to lay parquet on plywood is on the rough floor. The option is not bad, but not the highest quality. Its use is advisable in conditions of limited materials and time. Its essence is that the floor for plywood is not prepared. To work, you need to buy only self-tapping screws and glue:

  • First, glue is applied on the floor with a thick layer, where plywood sheets are then laid.
  • Every 50 cm they need to be fixed with self-tapping screws, and drown their caps deeper with a light hammer.
  • The final stage is laid parquet board as described above.
