Can I install a boiler myself?

It should be noted immediately that if you do not have any knowledge in the field of plumbing, then it is better to abandon this undertaking right away. This is especially true for owners of city apartments, because if you make even the slightest mistake during installation, then people living on the floor below will suffer more. That is, independent installation of a boiler is a rather risky procedure. If you carefully study the manufacturer's instructions and act clearly on the technology, then you should not have any problems.

In addition, the option of self-installation has several significant advantages:

  • Reducing costs, because you don’t have to pay plumbing for work.
  • Significant time savings.
  • The acquisition of useful skills that will be useful in the further operation of the device.

Having all the necessary knowledge and skills, you can dismantle the boiler in case of repair work, and you will not need any specialists.

DIY installation of the boiler on the wall

Do-it-yourself water heater installation in an apartment in the bathroom is carried out strictly according to the scheme

Important! The device can only be installed on a load-bearing wall, as close as possible to the water intake point, because the temperature of the water that moves through the pipes gradually decreases. The mounting height already depends on how convenient it will be to use. That is, so that you can adjust the temperature regime at any time.

Install as follows:

  • Choose a place to install. Follow certain rules when doing this. It is necessary to provide free access to the boiler for the entire period of operation. It is important to check the condition of the wiring, because such a device creates a fairly large load. You will have to check the pipeline, because it must be suitable for tapping the device.

Important! Installing a water heater on a wall is only possible if it can really withstand such a weight.

  • The heating elements with which the boilers are equipped are powerful enough, because the water should be heated as quickly as possible. That is why stringent requirements are also imposed on the wire used for connection. There are many of them sold, manufacturers, as a rule, indicate all the data in the data sheet. So, the minimum diameter of such a wire should be 5-6 mm.

Important! It is necessary to determine the maximum voltage of the meter to which the device will be connected.

  • After completing all the preparatory work, proceed with the installation.Mark on the wall where the lowest point of the device will be located. Then measure the distance between the upper bracket and the mark. Make holes on these marks. There are no holes in the plank, as it is fastened with hook-shaped anchors. Use the drill bit to make holes in the wall. Next, hammer in the dowels and screw in the anchors to mount the heater. Turn the anchors all the way, put on the mounting plate.
  • To connect to the water supply use polypropylene pipes or flexible hoses. You will see two connectors on the case: blue for the intake of cold water, red for hot water. Install a safety valve immediately before entering cold water. Wrap the connection point with FUM tape, turn on the tap, then screw the hose onto the valve located at the bottom. Screw the other end of the hose to the hot water pipe, and the cold water hose to the water supply. Install a tap in this place to shut off the water.
  • Complete with a boiler will be a cord, relay and plug. Before connecting near a heater, equip a ground outlet or set an automatic switch. After all the contacts are connected, you can apply voltage. If up to this point you did everything correctly, the indicator on the device will light up. It remains to fill the tank and set the temperature to the desired level.
  • Check the whole system. After the tank is full, open the hot water tap to bleed air. The device should work for several hours, and you can already start its operation.

Important! It is forbidden to connect water heaters to outlets with a capacity of more than 3 kW. Moreover, other electrical appliances cannot be connected to these outlets.

Features of installing water heaters in the apartment

Lack of free space is the biggest feature of urban apartments. If, for example, the walls in the toilet are finished with tiles, then, of course, it will be quite difficult to install a heater there. The only possible option in this case is mounting on the back wall, where, as a rule, there are lockers for storing household chemicals or masking sewers.

But it is important to know how to properly install a water heater in a cabinet, certain nuances of this procedure:

  • Only a boiler with a capacity of not more than 10 liters can be installed in the cabinet. First of all, he is freed from all contents.
  • Then, the distance between the central points of the fasteners, the dimensions of the cabinet, the gap between the wall and it are noted. This gap is marked, as well as fastener points. Holes are made in the right places, dowels are driven in, anchors are screwed into them.
  • Then the device is hung on the anchor.
  • The cabinet is assembled back, the heater is connected, as described above.

Installing a water heater under the sink

It also happens that boilers are installed under the sink, but only small-sized devices of a rectangular shape are suitable for this. It is, of course, convenient to have a water heater in such a place, because it is well protected from moisture.

Important! In the process of connecting to the mains, it is necessary to take care of separate wiring and grounding.

Many believe that such compact heaters are inefficient, but this is a huge misconception. In fact, most of them are quite powerful, they can heat 2 liters of water in just a minute. In general, the installation of boilers under the sink is no different from the traditional installation method.

  • Do not turn on the device with an empty tank.
  • It is forbidden to connect devices to a water supply system with a pressure of more than six atmospheres.
  • In no case should you remove the cover plate or drain the water while the heater is connected to the mains.
  • It is not permissible to connect the device to the water supply before installing the safety valve.
