Many people believe that the processing of the laminated coating with some additional compounds is not at all necessary, because, in accordance with the technology, the material is sold with impregnation. However, wax treatment of joints has the following advantages:

• Lock joints do not allow moisture to pass through the coating. This makes it possible to wash the floor without fear that the floorboards will deform.
• The protective layer of the wax mixture protects the surface from the formation of chips, scratches and cracks on the surface. The use of liquid wax helps to completely get rid of cracks.
• Additional processing of the floor will not be superfluous if it is the floor in the office, which walks in shoes with sharp heels. This also applies to families with clawed pets. The correct selection and use of protective material makes the floor resistant to wear.

Important! The entire surface of the floor should not be waxed, since the protective coating is destroyed. It's about processing joints and locks.

What do you need to know?

The most vulnerable parts of the floor — locks (connecting joints) —are subject to treatment with special compounds. The protective layer at the joints is very thin, so the coating is deformed due to excessive moisture. If an additional protective layer is applied to the locks, these problems can be avoided. The surface becomes more moisture resistant.

In addition, a wax layer on the locks will facilitate assembly of the coating. The floor will turn out to be more durable, they will not creak due to the fact that the connections are loose.

Wax is sold in markets or in specialized construction stores. It is sold in liquid, paste or solid form.

Waxing rules

Before buying a wax composition, you need to ask how to use it. There are surfaces that need to be processed before laying. In some cases, the mixture is used on already mounted surfaces. The rules for using wax are as follows:

• Preliminary preparation of the surface for waxing is required. It is preliminarily cleaned of dust and dirt.
• The floorboards must be completely dry.
• Before use, hard wax is heated in a water bath. If the material is available in the form of a paste, then it is not necessary to heat it.

Important! The liquid agent is applied with a thin brush before laying floor boards. The paste-like mixture and hard pencils are used after the laminate has been fully assembled.

• Remove excess wax with a soft, dry cloth. If the composition has already had time to harden, then it is easily cleaned with a plastic knife.
• After the work is completed, the laminate is polished with soft textiles.

The wax sealant, which is sold in tubes, provides more durable and reliable joint protection. The composition is squeezed out of the tube directly onto the joint with a thick layer.Now it remains to wait a couple of minutes for the product to dry and remove the excess with a rubber spatula. Important! When working with wax, safety precautions must be observed. You need to work in a respirator. The mixture is toxic, has a strong odor. Prolonged inhalation of material vapor can lead to allergies or intoxication.

Laminate wax pencil - quick restoration of flooring

If the laminated surface is damaged, a waxed pencil for the laminate from scratches will help to quickly update the floor. Pencils are sold in the form of small bars of different colors. Pencil Algorithm:

1. Prepare the floor surface. It must be dry and spotlessly clean.
2. The tool is selected so that it completely matches the shade of the floor.
3. Paint over the scratch with a pencil.
4. If the damage is deep, apply wax to the coating in several layers. The subsequent layer is applied after the previous one has completely dried.
5. Excess pencil on the floor is cleaned with a soft, clean cloth.

How to remove wax from the floor?

If, during operation, a drop of liquid mixture is on the surface, it must be removed immediately before it hardens. Use with a soft cloth so as not to damage the floorboards and avoid scratches.

Sometimes it happens that the spot was not immediately noticed, and the material froze. This problem can be solved if:

• Cover the stain with any absorbent paper (for example, a paper towel) and go over the paper with a hot iron. After the paper is removed, the surface is polished with a soft cloth.
• Use a regular hair dryer to remove wax drops from the floor surface: heat the wax with a hairdryer, and then carefully remove it with a rubber spatula.

Polishing the site, as always, is the final stage.

Important! Do not use sharp metal objects during operation, as they may scratch the floor.
