The dishwasher does not drain the water and there is water in the dishwasher

Every household appliance crashes from time to time, especially if it is operated frequently, intensively and for a long time. But which element of the system will fail or wear out in the first place - no one can predict this. Therefore, to navigate the question of what exactly needs to be repaired without professional diagnostics is possible only by signs of malfunctions. For example, what is the reason if the dishwasher does not drain the water and there is water in the dishwasher. We will deal with this in this article.

The principle of operation of dishwashers

As with the washing machine, water enters the dishwasher through the inlet valve. But in this case it is single.

Work sequence:

  1. Water fills the tank no higher than the indicator of the bottom waterproofing of the door. There are cases when it is heated, after which it is pumped through a pipe into the rocker using a recirculation pump.
  2. Rain from the jets washes the dishes, while the individual holes are directed so as to create a torque to the beam. Due to this, there is movement.
  3. Water accumulates at the bottom of the compartment, passes through the system from a thin and coarse filter, is collected in a sump, and following the program, it is sent to a repeated washing cycle.
  4. After completion, the drainage pump discharges dirty streams of water into the sewer.

Important! All this cycle is monitored by a pressure switch, a heating element, if necessary - heats the water, the electromagnetic valve, mixes softening salt according to the sensor or to the set regulator. Powder as well as the rest dishwasher detergents, are located inside the dispenser on the door itself, as necessary, they are thrown into the active chamber.

I must also say that the pressure of the pressure switch, as a rule, is taken in several places:

  • In the side tank to collect water at the time of collection.
  • In a sump where it is necessary to control the level during the descent.

Important! The central management system can use this information in a variety of ways.

For what reasons does the dishwasher not drain the water?

The first and most common reason a dishwasher does not drain water is because all filters are clogged. Only from the outside it may seem that the gaps there are quite large. In fact, after the deep filter there is a thin one, where it is almost impossible to see the parameters of the holes without using a magnifier.

The hardest part for Whirlpool owners, if any:

  1. To get the filter, you will be forced to almost disassemble absolutely the entire system of impellers, having removed the lower one initially and undocked the plastic passage for water intake.
  2. After that you can remove the lid of the sump together with the filters.
  3. Clean the filter, wash under running water, try to pump out the water.
  4. For verification, you can manually pour a few glasses into the active chamber.

After turning on, your dishwasher, as soon as it detects water, will try to get rid of it by turning on the pump. The convenience of this particular equipment, in contrast to the washing, is that the drainage pump is quite simple to dismantle. To do this, we recommend that you remove the bottom front cover. Access to the pump is hidden from the bottom.

Important! The drain pump is held by several screws, in the case of Whirlpool it will be Torx.

The mechanism of the dishwasher reminds us of what we can see in the washing machine. Namely:

  • Multi-coil induction motor in base.
  • Multi-pole magnetic rotor.
  • The cruciform impeller using centrifugal acceleration pushes all the water to the periphery through the cochlea.
  • Power supply, as a rule, from a network of 220 V.

Important! Remember that for a longer service life of such equipment it is advisable to take some measures to prevent breakdowns. High efficiency is shown in this regard by correctly selected and installed filter for water purification in the apartment.

Check the impeller

If cleaning the filter does not produce any special results - the dishwasher does not drain the water and there is water in the dishwasher, check if your impeller is spinning.

It must necessarily rotate somewhat tightly and immediately about a quarter of the scroll, jerkily. Coils are ringing, usually about 200 ohms. It is enough to simply check the entire mechanism by turning on 220 V.

Important! During the dismantling of the pump, water will probably go down. There are often no special precautions in dishwashers, due to the fact that the volume is not as large as in washing machines.

As a rule, you will be able to wind coils for a pump independently. The cost of a new part is not so big. Is it worth it to spend time - decide for yourself. By the way, you can attach a rotor in the future for any home-made designs.

Important! Remember that any equipment needs periodic cleaning of the main working blocks. A dishwasher is not an exception, but all the work will not take you much time if you follow the instructions from the article here “How to clean the dishwasher?”.

Pressure switch in the dishwasher

If water remains in the dishwasher, the pressure switch may also be to blame. Both pressure selection chambers are made in such a way that water, and even more so, pieces of food should not get inside - only air.

The selection pressure chambers in the sump are held on one or two screws and are easily removable. This is such a box, small in size, which is made of plastic, placed upside down. From under the bottom, you will notice that a transparent tube is attached to the pressure chamber, extending from the pressure switch. Using pliers, remove the clamp, and then dismantle this plastic part:

  1. Disconnect this tube from the pressure switch side.
  2. After that, thoroughly check the operability of the pressure sensor itself. To do this, on the pressure switch side, attach the tube to its place.
  3. Blow into it to hear a click.

Important! The water in the sump is in constant motion, its level is changing. This happens, because from here leads the intake of the recirculation pump.

In order to eliminate the constant clicks of the pressure switch, together with the tester in your hands, as well as the tubes in your mouth, start ringing contacts. Only if you see a drop in resistance straight to zero, can you consider that everything is fine.

Important! If during the testing of the system and its thorough inspection you notice that an unpleasant amber comes from the internal camera, immediately solve this issue. Here are some effective ways to help you, how to get rid of the smell in the dishwasher.

What to do when the dishwasher constantly drains the collected water?

The first thing that may be the reason is that the microswitch of the leakage broke, on which the float valve could press. This mechanism is located below and is fairly easy to test.

Getting rid of the reason:

  1. Ring it in the lower and upper position of the float. The result must be different - open and short. If there really was water at the bottom of the pan, find out how it got there.
  2. Then repair the leak.
  3. Drain all liquid, dry the tray, try restarting the dishwasher.

Important! Another reason may be more trivial. If the water outlet point of your drain hose is slightly below the tank fill level, spontaneous descent will occur. Change the position of the outlet pipe, and the problem that the dishwasher does not drain the water properly will be solved. You will find more detailed instructions on this cause and other probable problems hidden in connecting the equipment in the article on dishwasher siphon.
