It’s even nice to open all the windows, let fresh spring air into the house and put your house in order, because in spring everything always starts all over again. But dry cleaning is only a preliminary stage, which will only allow you to get rid of visible large debris, but a vacuum cleaner for wet cleaning will make the floor much cleaner and more sterile, and it is absolutely necessary for dry cleaning of carpets and upholstered furniture.

Wet vacuum cleaner

Wet-cleaning units can produce standard dry-cleaning, and can also be used for wet-cleaning. There are a lot of similar vacuum cleaners in stores, one is better than the other. Let's try to answer the question: what you need to know when you come to the store for such a vacuum cleaner?

Application

Vacuum cleaners for wet cleaning are useful for those who have a sufficiently large area of an apartment or house, as well as an abundance of carpets, textile upholstered furniture or several pets. A unit for carrying out periodic general cleaning of the house is very useful.

The optimal surfaces for using vacuum cleaners are:

  1. Floors and walls that are tiled (paved with stone).
  2. Carpets on a thin latex basis.

Important! Do not use washing vacuums on parquet flooring, foam-based carpets, natural jute carpets, or furniture that does not tolerate moisture.

disadvantages

However, for daily or weekly cleaning in a small house or apartment, we recommend buying a vacuum cleaner for dry cleaning, since, having a lot of advantages, a washing vacuum cleaner has a number of disadvantages, in particular:

  • The unit is much larger in size than a conventional vacuum cleaner.
  • Heavy.
  • More clumsy.
  • After use, the washing vacuum cleaner must be washed, disassembled and dried, which takes time and effort.

Wet Vacuum Cleaner Operation

The basic principle of the vacuum cleaner for wet cleaning:

  1. The tank for clean water is filled (with cleaning solution).
  2. Then - the solution is supplied with a hose and distributed under sufficiently strong pressure over the entire area of the nozzle.
  3. As a result of air discharge, dirty water is sucked into the dirt channels during the cleaning process.
  4. Through the channels, dirty water enters the second tank, designed to collect waste water.

As a result of the operation of the device, the cleaning quality is uniformly clean over the entire surface, since the washing vacuum cleaner uses only clean water during the cleaning process. In addition, linoleum, tile, laminate flooring coatings become dry almost immediately, and you can walk on them immediately after cleaning.

Important! If hard surfaces can be handled without a device manually, then returning to the carpet its former bright and fresh colors at home, only a washing vacuum cleaner can.

How to choose a washing vacuum cleaner?

Today, various models of devices are presented in stores, differing not only in color and design, but also in technical, functional characteristics, as well as pricing.Although the main task of all units is the same - the struggle for cleanliness of the premises, but they solve it all differently, depending on the design features. There are models only for dry or only for wet cleaning, but there are also hybrids that can clean both wet and dry.

When choosing a device in the store, pay attention to the following characteristics of the vacuum cleaner:

  1. Power.
  2. Filtration system.
  3. The form.
  4. The size.
  5. The weight.
  6. Ease of maintenance.
  7. Noise level.
  8. The presence of additional nozzles.
  9. The quality and material of the tube and hose.

Let us dwell on the above characteristics in more detail.

Power

For high-quality cleaning of all types of surfaces, it is enough to have a device with a suction power of 300 watts. However, for faster cleaning of the apartment with an aggregate with various filters installed, it is recommended to have a model with a suction power of 400 watts or more.

Important! The greater the suction power, the better, because the excess power can be considered as an additional resource, which is used only from time to time.

Some manufacturers operate with a maximum power consumption for advertising purposes, which is measured in 1500, 2000 watts. But power consumption is not suction power. Even in the best household appliances, the suction power reaches 900 watts, and the power consumption is much less than that of cheaper analogues.

Important! Both consumed and suction power are often indicated as both maximum and average. Usually, the average suction power is less than the maximum by 15-30%, since the maximum suction power is reached only in the first seconds of operation, it is more useful to know the average power value. Comparing the maximum and average effective absorption component of various models, you can most accurately choose the one that suits you.

Filtration system

In washing devices, dust is sucked into the tank with water, where it remains (90-95% of the dust gets wet and settles in the tank). The remaining light dust “emerges” from the water along with air bubbles. Remaining still dry, the dust is retained in the final fine filters (the same filters are used in dry vacuum cleaners) - as a rule, these are AFS, HEPA, S-filters.

Important! The more stages of filtration, the better for human health. The best degree of filtration is provided by a wet vacuum cleaner with an aquafilter.

Shape, size, weight

On the home appliance market, washing machines are presented in two versions: vertical, horizontal.

The classic vertical design has a cylindrical or trapezoidal shape with control buttons and a transfer handle, rollers, etc. The engine compartment is usually located in the upper part of the device, above the tanks.

The devices in a vertical version are present in the lineup of companies:

  • Thomas.
  • Vax.
  • Rowenta.
  • Delonghi.

Cylindrical models are usually larger in size, which means heavier. However, the advantage of this model is that it is equipped with the most capacious tanks, both for clean and waste water.

Important! For reference: in a Thomas wet vacuum cleaner (Bravo20S Aquafilte) you can pour 3.6 liters of washing solution, and the waste water tank is designed for 20 liters. This technique is suitable for cleaning an apartment and a large house.

Use for equipment only special products for washing vacuums.

If you like models that are no different from ordinary dry machines, then select compact, maneuverable devices that have a drop shape and good maneuverability. They look modern and stylish, and you can use them even in crowded rooms.

Important! The volume of tanks of such units for clean water varies from 2.3 to 10 liters. For waste and dirty water - from 5 to 20 liters.

To clean a three-room apartment, 5-7 liters of plain water or a detergent solution are enough.

Manufacturers also envisioned the situation that the waste water tank may overflow: a special float valve is installed in the vacuum cleaners, which turns off the engine when the container is full.

Important! The size and weight of the washing machine directly depends on the volume of the tanks.

Tube and hose

Modern vacuum cleaners for wet cleaning are equipped with telescopic sliding tubes, which allows you to adjust the length for any height. Handsets are:

  • Plastic.
  • Aluminum.
  • Steel.

Important! A plastic tube is cheaper, but a steel tube is much stronger.

In the latest models, some manufacturers have equipped the suction tubes with convenient handles with remote controls.

According to the principle of action, 3 types of control are distinguished:

  • Wired - wires go inside the hose from the vacuum cleaner to the handle. This is the most common way. The disadvantage of this control is that the hose is rather heavy.
  • Infrared - according to the principle of a remote control. It works on batteries, but there is still a drawback: if you vacuum somewhere under the sofa, the signal may not reach.
  • Radio control. This is a fairly new direction, it works clearly and without errors. Disadvantage: the high cost of vacuum cleaners and there are so few of them on sale.

Vacuum cleaner nozzles

In the kit of each model, as a rule, 5-7 nozzles:

  1. For dry cleaning (with “floor / carpet” mode).
  2. For wet cleaning.
  3. For washing glass.
  4. Turbo brush for deep cleaning of carpets and upholstered furniture.
  5. For upholstered furniture.
  6. Dry brush with anti-static treatment of the villi (for cleaning TV screens or computer keyboards).
  7. Sometimes a plunger.

For wet cleaning, the main nozzle for carpets and the adapter for washing hard surfaces are usually used. A nozzle for upholstered furniture and a brush for washing hard surfaces are also used. For dry cleaning, a main brush is usually intended, with an adjustable pile height, as well as a small brush and crevice nozzle.

Important! Various companies and manufacturers offer their own set of nozzles, for example, Philips has developed a universal nozzle that performs 3 different functions:

  • Removes dirt adhering to hard floors.
  • Washes hard surfaces without using too much water.
  • Collects dirty, waste water.

Using such a nozzle, any hard coatings can be qualitatively washed in one pass.

Noise level

The noise level is determined by the design of the nodes, as well as the manufacturing quality of the device. Leading manufacturers managed to reduce the noise of a working wet vacuum cleaner to 60-65 dB. This is much quieter than the sound of a dishwasher or washing machine.

Important! In terms of noise, washing machines do not exceed conventional ones, and this is not the most important characteristic of a vacuum cleaner, since it does not work for long.

Ease of maintenance

All manufacturers try to facilitate and simplify the assembly and disassembly of washing machines as much as possible, since after each use of the vacuum cleaner it must be washed. In high-quality models, where everything is correctly thought out and done, it takes from 10 to 15 minutes to manipulate washing, assembling, disassembling. And in models with hard-to-reach time nodes, much more is spent, because the tanks for clean and waste water can be arranged in the housing in different ways.

Consider the features of some models precisely by the criteria of ease of maintenance.

Vax

Vax company in all models places the tanks one above the other (on top - a tank for clean water). To fill the washing solution or water, it is necessary to open two locks on the case, and then to remove the top part of a cover where the engine is located. But to remove the waste water, you will have to remove not only the lid, but also the upper tank, so manipulations of this kind are not very convenient.

Important! The most popular and widespread among vertical models is the “container in container” type design (a removable container with a washing solution is installed in the dirt collection tank). To fill the vacuum cleaner with water (detergent), it is enough to remove the upper part of the housing from the latches and remove the removable tank. During operation, the dirty suction water fills the rest of the tank.

Rowenta

In Turbo Bully RB 839 (Rowenta) models, the tanks for clean and waste water are made of plastic as a single container, and are two cylinders of different diameters inserted one into the other. This design is much more convenient, because you can fill the shampoo tank several times before emptying the container with dirty water.

Important! For a small cleaning, a small amount of detergent and water will be required, and during general cleaning, you can repeatedly add shampoo until the reservoir with waste water is completely filled.

In some models, in addition to the reservoir for used water, a removable cassette tank is provided, which is located on the outside of the case. This is very convenient to minimize the time required to prepare the vacuum cleaner for use. It is enough to remove the appropriate tank and fill it with the necessary fluid.

FC7070 / 01 AquaTrio

An alternative to the traditional washing vacuum cleaner is the entertaining Philips FCa7070 \ 01 AquaTrio. During the cleaning cycle, this unit performs 3 operations:

  1. Clean with a cyclone vacuum cleaner. As a result of such cleaning, dust and coarse particles are absorbed.
  2. Wet cleaning. Thanks to one of two rotating microfiber brushes, spots and liquid remaining on the floor are quickly removed.
  3. Drying. As a result of the process, the second (back) brush absorbs the remaining moisture and dries the surface.

The vacuum cleaner has two tanks for clean and dirty water. Clean (optional with a detergent, cold or warm), is applied to the first brush, with which dirt, dust are collected, all stains are wiped. Thus, wet cleaning occurs, and the second - a rotating brush, simultaneously collects excess water and speeds up the drying process of the floor. Water and dirt are absorbed by the vacuum cleaner and enter a separate tank. When it is filled, the indicator light on the housing lights up.

Important! This model is designed for hard flooring: parquet, laminate, vinyl, natural stone, ceramic tiles and wooden floors. For carpets, this model is not suitable.

Advantages of the device:

  • There is no need to clean the device after use. The cleaning process is automated: place the device on a specially designed washing tray, pour a glass of tap water into it and turn it on for a few seconds.
  • Microfiber brushes do not need special care.Due to the centrifugal force (brush rotation speed - 6700 rpm) and the constant supply of clean water during operation, the dirt and water from the brushes goes directly to the waste water tank, where they are automatically cleaned.

Important! With intensive use of the vacuum cleaner, it is recommended to change the brushes once every six months.
